Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was knocked unconscious and robbed in Huddersfield.
The 23-year-old victim was stood at the junction of Wood Street and Northumberland Street, Huddersfield, at around 2.30am on Sunday, September 14, when he was approached by a man who assaulted him.
While the victim was on the floor unconscious, the man searched his pockets and stole a mobile phone and bank card.
Detective Constable Jason Thorpe, of Kirklees CID, said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a young man who had been out in the town who had then stopped to make a telephone call to his friends. The attack was particularly nasty with the victim suffering a serious head injury; thankfully he has since recovered well enough to be allowed home.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to contact the police. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Northumberland Street area of Huddersfield between 2.30am and 3am that morning.
“Information should either be passed to Kirklees CID directly on 101 or to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
