Man mugged on walk home

DETECTIVES are investigating after a man was mugged in a Calderdale village.

The 21-year-old was walking home along Copley Lane in Copley when a black Vauxhall Astra with three men inside pulled up alongside him.

One of the men got out and threatened the victim, who handed over his wallet and phone.

The mugger was described as Asian, aged between 25 and 50, 5ft 10 ins tall and skinny.

He had dark hair which was shaved at the sides.

He had a local accent and was wearing a black jumper and black tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Inspector Ashley Hewitt from Calderdale CID urged anyone who can help find the culprit to get in touch.

“We’re appealing for witnesses to contact us. If there is anyone who saw anything suspicious at around that time or anyone who saw the car in the area we would ask them to let us know,” he said.

“We also want to hear from anyone who thinks they recognise the man from the description.”

The theft happened between 2am and 3am on Sunday.
