Man pushed into alleyway and mugged in Huddersfield town centre

DETECTIVES in Huddersfield are appealing for information after a man was mugged by a woman and another man.

The 48-year-old victim was walking alone in Huddersfield town centre at 11am on January 17 near Market Place when he was grabbed without warning by a man and pushed into the alleyway between the Nationwide Building Society and Barclays Bank.

The suspect was joined by a woman who threatened the victim, demanding money.

Fearing for his safety, the man handed over £60.

The victim was then told to walk to the bottom of the alleyway while the suspects fled the scene.

The thieves were described as a black man in his late 30s to early 40s and a white woman in her late 20s.

The man was around 5ft 8ins tall, of medium build and with a bruise or swelling around his left eye. He was wearing a navy blue knee length trench coat, a scarf and black leather gloves.

The woman was also around 5ft 8ins tall and skinny with long, straight brown to ginger hair.

Any witnesses to the robbery or anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Mick Cummings at Huddersfield CID via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
