Elland and Halifax firefighters rescued a 46-year-old man who fell several metres from a bridge at 9.30 pm last night. (Sun)

He landed on the canal banking near Folly Hall Mills, Chapel Hill, and suffered a broken leg.

Elland firefighters used ladders to gain access down banking and lowered equipment to paramedics.

The combined aerial rescue pump from Halifax was then brought in to lift the casualty from the scene.
