A YOUNG man is today fighting for his life in hospital after falling 40ft down the side of Halifax train station.
The 26-year-old climbed over the platform railings and plummeted 40ft into the Nestle factory yard.
He suffered serious pelvis injuries, swelling to his brain and facial fractures.
It is understood the man, from Bradford, had been on a night out in Halifax with a group of friends and had gone to the station to get the last train home at around 11.50pm on Saturday night.
They missed the train and, for some unknown reason, the man climbed over the platform railings.
He was initially being treated in the intensive care unit at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary where he underwent an operation yesterday morning.
He was expected to be transferred to a specialist hospital in Leeds or Sheffield last night.
