Match preview: FC Halifax Town v Skelmersdale Utd

HAS FC Halifax Town's season finally picked up a bit of momentum? They will certainly be hoping so after an astonishing final five or six minutes at Garforth on Tuesday night.

Despite dominating, the Shaymen found themselves two goals down and heading for a Unibond Division One North cul-de-sac.

By the time the final whistle blew, thanks to goals from Junior Brown and Kris King, they had secured a point from a 2-2 draw.

And goalscorer Brown admitted after the game that it was a draw that felt like a win given the nature of the remarkable fightback.

The key now will be to take the feelgood factor gained in the closing stages at the Genix Healthcare Stadium into tomorrow's Shay clash with Skelmersdale - their first home league game since the 7-1 demolition of rock bottom Salford City.

Skem will be a considerable tougher prospect than City who failed to get out of the blocks and allowed Town to race into a two goal lead inside three minutes.

The Merseyside outfit have lost just one - a surprise 4-1 reverse at struggling Chorley.

And they score plenty of goals with 16 from their seven matches - three more than the Shaymen from one game fewer.

Town have been truly infuriating this season, showing glimpses of what a more than capable squad can do but mixing that with some shoddy defending and a failure to really press home territorial and possession advantages with goals.

Skem are just a couple of points outside the play-off zone with up to three games in hand on the teams above them.

And last weekend when Town were crashing out of the FA Trophy they were going through at the expense of Shepshed Dynamo.

The good thing for Halifax is that they have yet to put together a full 90 minute performance in the league this season.

But they are still close enough to the top five to be able to get into contention with a good run.

There would be no better place to start than at the Shay tomorrow.
