Mayor attends awards night

Over 200 proud parents and students attended the second annual Park Lane Learning Trust Key Stage 4 awards night.

The prize giving evening was held to celebrate the success of students in Years 10 and 11.

The event was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale, John and Janet Hardy, who presented certificates to students.

Awards were also handed out by the subject staff for students who had worked exceptionally well over the last year and had attained excellent results.

There was also a range of special awards which were presented in Literacy, Aim High and Contribution to the School Community, as well as Sports Teams of the Year.

Headteacher Steve Taylor announced the new Student Executive, including Head Boy , Jack Smith-Edwards, and Head Girl, Gemma Hughes, who replace Jordan Hadden and Harriet Walsh.

Their deputies, Jordan Baldwin and Viktorika Stankaityte, were also announced.

The other members of the Student Executive are Georgina Farar, who is Lead Prefect, Sam Mitchell, Chair of the Student Council and the Lead Peer Mentors Georgina Parker and Danielle Rippon.

Mr Taylor said: “It has been a fantastic year for Park Lane and I would like to say on behalf of myself and the staff how proud we are of all of the students in the room for their exceptional efforts and achievements.

“I would also like to thank the parents, governors and community for their continued support.”

“Last year Park Lane had the best results in the history of the school, but this year is even better,” he added.
