Mayor forced to cancel civic engagements due to ill health

The Mayor of Calderdale has been forced to cancel some of her civic engagements after suffering ill health.

Councillor Ann Martin (Lab, Brighouse) is currently unwell and unable to fulfil some of her duties.

Calderdale Council’s chief executive Merran McRae said: “The deputy mayor will be fulfilling her commitments until she can return to her duties.”

Deputy Mayor Coun Lisa Lambert (Lab, Illingworth and Mixenden) is expected to carry out Coun Martin’s engagements including the following events this weekend and next week: On March 15 at 10am, to officially open new allotments at Doctor Hill, Pellon, Halifax, and Cemetery Fields, Sowerby Bridge, at 12pm collection of the Mayor’s Appeal from Harveys department store, Halifax. From 7.30pm to attend Todmorden Orchestra Concert at Todmorden Town Hall and Halifax Symphony Orchestra at Square Chapel, Halifax.

On Sunday March 16 at 11am to attend St Patrick’s Day Mass and Parade, St Mary’s Church, Gibbet Street, Halifax.

On March 18 at 7pm to attend Reserve Forces and Cadets’ Association for Yorkshire and the Humber.
