PUPILS got some top tips from the Mayor of Calderdale when he dropped in to give a speech at their school.

Senior pupils at Rishworth School had a visit from Coun Nader Fekri in his full civic regalia.

He led an assembly on the theme of “Things to do before you are too old!”

He pulled upon his experience to date to give pupils his list of top tips to make the most of life.

His number one tip was to wear comfortable shoes, to make sure, he said your walk through life was as unproblematic as possible.

Coun Fekri also advised pupils to sing and dance every day as well as doing something new.

He told them to embrace the unknown.

Head of Sixth Form, Peter Robinson, said: “It was a superb talk that inspired not just myself but many of the Sixth Form for the rest of the day.”
