It’s a feat that would terrify many, but the Mayor of Calderdale braved the great heights of Wainhouse Tower in a charity challenge for three worthy causes.

Howard Blagbrough and other determined charity fundraisers abseiled down the iconic Halifax landmark to raise funds for the Mayor’s charities - Together for Looked-after Children, The Brighouse Rest Centre and the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.

The Mayor of Calderdale said: “It was a bit scary because of the wind but it was fabulous. The views were amazing, looking down it was unbelievable.

“It was a unique opportunity and I would definitely recommend it if you are a bit of a daredevil.”

The event raised £10,000 for the Mayor’s chosen charities.
