Almost 900 real-ale fans were treated to two days of top-class drinks at Square Chapel’s annual Mayfest celebration in Halifax.

There were 61 real ales on offer, as well as ciders and perries for the public to try out at the festival hosted by Calderdale CAMRA – the Campaign for Real Ale.

Independent brewers, including local breweries Little Valley at Cragg Vale, Bridestones at Blackshaw Head and the Elland Brewery in Elland piled into Square Chapel to offer beer to thirsty enthusiasts.

Kate Hornby, from the Square Chapel, said she thoroughly enjoyed the festival. It was a really enjoyable with a fun yet relaxed atmosphere,” she said.

“It was a great event with tasty food and top quality ciders and ales to enjoy while sitting in the sun.

“ It was just a lovely way to spend a Friday evening, catching up with friends and having a laugh whilecomparing notes on the different ales.

“I particularly enjoyed Ginger Pale Ale by Little Valley Brewery and Eden by Elland Brewery,” she added.
