More cars seized as part of operation

Police officers are continuing their mission to clamp down on dangerous and irresponsible drivers across Calderdale.

Last week, the dedicated team of road and neighbourhood police officers seized another five vehicles which did not have insurance, seized one vehicle under section 59 and issued another section 59 for anti social driving, arrested the driver of a stolen vehicle, arrested two drink drivers, issued one ticket to a driver who was using a mobile phone at the wheel and another ticket to a driver who was not wearing a seatbelt. Five other tickets were issued for various other offences.

Halifax Neighbourhood Inspector Colin Skeath said: “We’re directly responding to the public of Calderdale, who have told us their concerns over the standard of driving in Halifax.

“This operation signals our intention to do something about it.”

Operation Hawmill is aimed at tackling speeding, drink and drug driving, failing to wear a seatbelt and using a mobile phone.
