ANOTHER 17 food outlets have received top marks in the latest Scores on the Doors listing.

Calderdale Council inspectors periodically rate premises on standards of hygiene and compliance with the law.

Among the top five-star ratings was the new Pound Bakery at Corn Market, Halifax.

Area manager Sarah Simpson said staff were thrilled with the rating.

“Staff have worked hard since we opened just short of three months ago,” she said.

“We have great prices but do not compromise on quality and are really proud to achieve five stars.”

Gaye Colleran, manager of the Jubilee Children’s Centre, Halifax, which also achieved five stars, said: “We are delighted. We have an excellent cook, Julie Carney, and the environmental health said every star was deserved, which was really good.”

Nursing homes, a bowling club and a church were among other five star ratings.

Nineteen premises were rated four stars, seventeen achieved three, thirteen were rated two stars and seven were given one star.

The Mughal Restaurant, Wards End, Halifax, was rated very poor and received none.
