Mossley v FC Halifax Town: Duo fit for Mossley trip

BOSS Neil Aspin expects Nicky Gray and Tom Baker to be fit for action when Town travel to play Mossley in Unibond One North tonight (7.45).

The duo did not feature in the impromptu training session held on the Shay pitch after Saturday's home game with Clitheroe was postponed, Baker because of a hip injury and Gray with a back problem.

But Aspin said that was just a precaution and he is set to name the same side that completed a league double over Bamber Bridge for the game at Ashton United's Hurst Cross ground.

"They were going to play on Saturday but they were both carrying knocks which is why they did not train," said Aspin.

"I would expect by game time they will be better and that is probably the only bonus about Saturday being called off."

Richard Marshall trained along with the rest of the squad having been a slight doubt after picking up a knock in the League Cup win over North Ferriby seven days ago.

And an unchanged side means that Scott Phelan and Paul Sykes will have to settle for bench places on their return from suspension.

The game has been switched to Ashton United because of problems with the floodlight pylons at Mossley's Seel Park home.

But Aspin is not expecting that to affect his side and believes it may even be a bonus.

"It won't make any difference to us because it is an away game and it doesn't matter where you go," he said.

"By all accounts, and I have played there in the past, the pitch is better than Mossley's.

"I have checked on the weather and although it is going to be cold, Monday night was due to be alright and day time temperatures are okay."

It is the first meeting between the sides this season - they are scheduled to play at the Shay on February 20.

But they did meet in a League Cup clash in Halifax in November when goals from Mark Peers and James Dean gave Town a 2-1 win.

"We played them earlier in the season in one of the cup competitions when they were on a good run and they played reasonably well," said Aspin.

"They played three centre backs and wing backs.

"But I don't worry about them, it is about us and whether we are set for the game."

Leaders Lancaster City, who lost 4-1 at Woodley Sports on Saturday, are also in action tonight when they entertain Clitheroe.

Bamber Bridge entertain Chorley in a Lancashire derby while Salford City take on AFC Fylde and Warrington Town are at home to rock bottom Rossendale United

FC Halifax Town (probable): Hedge, Hardy, Codman, Payne, Riley, Baker, Winter Lowe, Gray, Marshall, Dean. Subs (from): Senior, Crossley, Phelan, Sykes, Peers, Hotte, Richardson.
