Mossley v FC Halifax Town: Town well equipped to cope with anything
Last season's visit to Mossley's Seel Park home was a disaster for Town.
They were not just beaten by the Manchester side, they were thrashed.
And boss Jim Vince looked shell shocked when he spoke after a 3-1 reverse that could have been 6-1.
There is no danger of a repeat tonight - for a start, the game is being played at Ashton United's Hurst Cross ground due to Mossley's floodlight problems.
But even if it were at Seel Park, the current Town side is far better equipped to cope than the squad in the early part of last season ever was.
Neil Aspin's men are a tight knit bunch, as they showed during what turned into quite a public training session at the Shay on Saturday following the postponement of the game against Clitheroe.
The banter you would associate with a contented bunch was there for all to see and hear.
But, more importantly, the players Aspin has assembled are better than their immediate predecessors.
There are three goalscorers in double figures, creative midfielders who can open up defences and defenders who know how to handle the opposition strikers.
The recent rest also appears to have done them good if the displays against Bamber Bridge are anything to go by.
They do not, however, need any more rest just yet and will be keen for tonight's game to go ahead after Saturday's call off.
Mossley have not had the best of times at home this season with just a couple of wins - against Trafford and Bamber Bridge - in eight outings.
Maybe they will enjoy a change of scenery for home midweek games for the foreseeable future.
Lancaster City and Colwyn Bay have both returned from Manchester with maximum points although Leigh Genesis only managed a draw.
Mossley have not managed to play a league game since the 'big freeze' so will be as keen as Town to play this evening.
They have managed a game, however, losing 2-1 at North West Counties side Glossop North End in the Manchester Cup.
Since they lost 2-1 at the Shay in a President's Cup clash - Mark Peers and James Dean bagging the goals for Town - they have played seven times and won just once.
It is inconceivable that record will improve any tonight.
