Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker cut the ribbon to open the refurbished Elland town centre Post Office.

He said a post office network is important to communities and he was delighted with the new-look office which will open additional hours.

Post Office owner Manjit Kaur said she was delighted to have the opportunity to modernise the shop which now has four serving positions.

“It has been totally transformed and the fact we are also opening all day Saturday will be a great help to our customers.”

Post Office regional network manager Adrian Wales said the modernisation is part of a three year investment programme which involves around 6,000 premises converting to new-style branches.

There are over 11,500 branches nationwide.
