THIS is one bouncer definitely not to be messed with.
Muscly Matt Doyle, from Elland, has been making a name for himself in the body-building world, earning a string of top trophies.
The 36-year-old won the Mr Yorkshire title in 2010 and came second in the Mr UK contest this year.
He only started bodybuilding three years ago, taking it up after training in boxing and martial arts.
He says the hobby comes in handy for his job as a doorman in Leeds.
And he has his sights on more trophies in the future. “I’m going to take a year off to build up and enter more contest in 2013,” he said.
Matt has to follow a strict diet and train 14 times a week to maintain his physique.
He works out at Gemini Fitness on Square Road in Halifax.
His family and friends are all proud of his achievements and often go to watch him compete.
“I’ve got a seven-year-old daughter, Kate, and she thinks it’s great,” he said.
“I can hear her cheering at the back.”
The first large-scale body building competition took place in New York in 1904.
Bodybuilding became more popular in the 1950s and 1960s with the emergence of strength and gymnastics champions joining the sport.
Stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger have helped raise the profile of the sport.
