Nantwich Town v FC Halifax Town: Boss fancies cup chances
FC Halifax Town boss Jim Vince takes his side to Unibond Premier Division Nantwich tomorrow confident they can win a place in the hat for Monday's third qualifying round draw.
The Shaymen may be the underdogs in the FA Cup clash at Weaver Stadium but they travel on the back of four successive wins.
But Vince believes that have a chance against a side managed by former Burnley centre back Steve Davis.
"I know Steve very well," he said. "I have a lot of respect for him because his team tries to play football.
"But his teams also have that bit of aggression and they know when to mix it.
"I am taking nothing for granted, but I fancy us and that is because I am always positive.
"On paper we should not win the game, so we have to be focused and professional and if we are we have a chance.
"I am going there with the intention of being in the hat for the next round."
Wins in previous rounds over Silsden and Ryton have already netted the Shaymen 4,500 in prize money.
They can double that with victory over Nantwich, who beat FC United in a first qualifying round replay at Gigg Lane.
And Vince is looking for his team to capitalise on what he believes is a good draw.
"It is a good revenue stream but we have to be realistic and we have to take our chances," he said.
"We had a good draw in the last round and I think this is a good one for us to.
"We go there with a little bit of form and there is no reason why we cannot progress if we perform.
"If all 11 players play well, we win. If six or seven play well they will pull the rest through.
"But we have to have the majority of players good to very good."
Vince is confident that Lincoln Adams will recover from the knock he received in Tuesday's 4-3 President's Cup win at Ossett Albion.
That would enable the manager to revert back to three central defenders for the game, although he is not too concerned about formations.
"I don't get hung up on systems," he said. "I look for flexibility in my players and we are doing okay.
"I have looked back at the videos of the last two league games and against Salford some of our play was very good.
"We made them pay for their mistakes like we were made to pay in the first few games."
