An elderly woman had her necklace stolen by a thief who grabbed and snatched it as he passed by.

The 70-year-old woman was approached from behind by the thief who grabbed at and snapped off her necklace as he passed by, before making off down a snicket towards Newsome.

The stolen property was a yellow gold link chain with a gold St Christopher Pendant marked with the words ‘To my brother from sister Patricia’. The chain also had a gold star of David on it and an engraved wedding ring marked ‘forever together’ which belonged to the victim’s late husband.

She was unhurt but has understandably been left very distressed by the incident that happened between 10.35am and 10.45am in Jackroyd Lane on Saturday, July 6.
