New date for sports awards

The Calderdale sports awards have been moved forward because of a clash with a key rugby match.

On Sunday night Halifax RLFC were drawn against Featherstone in the semi-final of the Northern Rail Cup.

The game will be shown live on Sky and will be played on Thursday June 16, which was the original night for the sports awards presentation at the Victoria Theatre.

To avoid a clash, the sports awards have been moved to Monday June 13.

Halifax RLFC players will attend after training.

Top comedian and former rugby-league player Lea Roberts and professional MC Pete Emmett will still present the ceremony which start at 7.30pm.

Last year 700 people attended.
