New Halifax library plans unveiled

Library users have been promised top class facilities when the relocated service opens in 2015.

It has been designed to fit into its historic setting next to Square Chapel, the Piece Hall and Calderdale Industrial Museum.

And inside it will have the latest up-to-date innovations helping people to learn, work and enjoy leisure time.

Calderdale Council faced criticism from some quarters when it boldly decided it was in the best interests of the town to relocate the library from Northgate into the Piece Hall setting, which will be the cultural anchor for the town with its plans for a multi-million transformation programme due to start next year.
