A former infants school in Sowerby has been transformed into a community hub.

St. Peter’s Community Centre, Sowerby, has opened after refurbishment at the former St Peter’s Infants School in the village.

Past pupils, staff and residents came together for the celebration and the opening was performed by Mrs Pam Lum who was head of the school for 23 years.

Guests enjoyed reminiscing following the renovations and looking at photos and memorabilia from the school’s history.

They gave a resounding thumbs up to the transformation work which was made possible by funding from SITA Trust, Garfield Weston Association, Bernard Sunley Charitable Association, Bishop’s Development Fund, Awards For All, All Churches Trust, The Rushbearing Committee, J and C Joel, and private donations.
