Calderdale Interfaith Council and Halifax Minster are teaming up to develop some inter-faith visits for schools.

The minster has a wide range of artefacts from world faiths and decided to showcase these around schools in Calderdale to share them with children.

The council and minster are now seeking volunteers from different faiths to become part of the education team.

Halifax Minster’s education officer Nancy White said: “We have an existing programme of school visits which has received excellent feedback.

“But we now wish to expand this to cover other faiths, so that together we can celebrate all the faith traditions we have in Calderdale.”

Raja Taufiq Khan, faith ambassador at Calderdale Interfaith Council, welcomed the project.

He said: “Education and awareness of different heritage values will lead us towards bringing cohesion and harmony in our multi-racial, multi-faith and multi-cultural society.”

Anyone interested in being part of this new programme can contact the minster.
