Northowram Hedge Top Cricket Club was out to reach the first division of the Halifax League for the first time in 1961.

By June the club was unbeaten and well clear of its second division rivals and was even being tipped to lift the Parish Cup as well as promotion. This photo was taken before the club’s third round cup match against Dean Clough – and Northowram won by five wickets.
