A PRIMARY school football team is all kitted out thanks to a donation from First.

The bus company granted £375 to Siddal Primary School for new training equipment, including training tops and footballs.

The school runs a boys’ football club and is now looking into the possibility of running teams for girls and younger children.

Donna Myers, pastoral worker at the Halifax school, said: “I would like to thank First for helping fund this kit for the schoolchildren and it will be put to very good use now the kids have returned for the autumn term.”

The cash came from First’s national charity committee, set up in 2008 to consider requests for funding and gifts from groups involved with young people, health and the environment.

Mick O’Neil, a bus driver for First in Halifax, said: “We are delighted to hand over this cheque to Siddal Primary School and hopefully some of these youngsters may turn out to be the next David Beckham. As long as they enjoy their football – that is the main thing.”
