Friends and colleagues said farewell to a long-serving Halifax nurse.

Sue Scholefield, of Sowerby Bridge, dedicated 27 years to nursing in our region.

She started as an auxiliary nurse at the former Halifax General Hospital on the labour ward.

Her expansive career entailed various roles at Northowram Day Hospital - in computer services, social services, car parking and waste services during her time at the Trust.

Nurse Sue said: “I’ve had a ball. I’ve done a lot and met a lot of lovely people. I’ve lots of memories - my favourite is when an elderly patient I’d been helping to feed sent me a scroll thanking me for smiling every day - I’ll always treasure that memory.”

Sue, a mum of four, plans to spend her retirement concentrating on time with her family and enjoying hobbies including flower arranging, Indian cooking and drinking Champagne!
