A budding singer from Halifax is aiming to be on song in her latest audition for a nationwide talent show.
Olivia Webster, 13, from Sowerby Bridge, is one of 30 acts taking part in the regional heat of the Teenstar competition in Manchester on April 7 and could reach the northern area final if she is selected.
Olivia, who attends Ryburn Valley High School, said: “I’m excited, I don’t really get nervous. I haven’t decided what I’m going to sing yet but it’d be amazing if I got through.
“This is the first singing contest I’ve done and I didn’t expect to get beyond the first heat but hopefully I reach the final.”
Her mum Melissa said: “She’s been in lots of productions such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Annie and Scrooge.
“She also goes to Whiteley’s Academy, who have offered free singing lessons and practice with her mic techniques.
“She’s very down to earth about it all but it’d be fantastic if she won. She’d be over the moon.”
Also competing at the event will be Rastrick High pupil Shanta Pinnock.
