Home owners and visitors should have free parking

I was pleasantly surprised at the tremendous turn out by the majority of residents of the Roomfield area who attended a public meeting at the Todmorden Workingmen’s Social Club, to debate new proposals covering updated charges for parking permits for the streets and surrounding area.

Calderdale Council have proposed new measures covering parking permits and increased charges without any consultation to the residents and without regard for their requirements and needs. It is apparent that Calderdale continue to extract as much as possible from the humble hard working community of Todmorden without reciprocating with the necessary services that are needed.
Perhaps Calderdale should think about moving the “boundary” at Hebden Bridge and include Todmorden.
The result of the meeting was that the majority of residents suggested declining the proposed 25 pounds with an additional 25 pounds for each member of the family and for each visitor. It was proposed that parking permits be removed from all streets, and free parking be provided for the owner and visitors of the residence in front of that residence.
