Surprise, surprise! Library to be demolished (Courier, November 2), front page; page 5 “Favour restoring existing library and archives at a cost of less than £4 million (majority 1,255).
Will somebody give the Councillors an abacus? Three surveys, plus IPSOS £57 million wasted, as way back “16,000 voted to leave library where it is”, and now they say “majority 1,255”. Prior to all surveys etc, it was a forgone conclusion the library would go. The money on IPSOS survey could have been better spent. The Piece Hall. If Piazza there – where will all vintage buses and motor bikes go?
