The Halifax based Charity OSCA (Ovenden Sports and Community Arena) Foundation is set to help more local people get into sport thanks to a £148,000 funding boost.

The National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund will go towards the total project cost of £178,000 of ‘Bringing Back the Heart’.

The funding will allow OSCA to develop new programmes of outdoor sport and physical activities designed to encourage 14 to 25 year olds and older people to get into sport and get them coming back for more.

The Foundation has appointed Neil Ross as the project’s Community Sports Development Officer.

Neil is an ex-professional footballer having played for Leeds United, Stockport County, Macclesfield Town and Halifax Town.

The first offer to local clubs is the North Halifax Monday Night 5 a side League which starts on October 13. For more details, email Neil.Ross@oscafoundation.co.uk or call 07974077143.
