Overgate Hospice celebrates 10 years of Midnight Walk

The team will be back at North Bridge Leisure Centre on Saturday 9 September to welcome over 800 walkers that have already registered.

Brand new seven and 13 mile routes will also be revealed as walkers count down to midnight and set off on this amazing challenge for Overgate Hospice. Since introducing the Midnight

Walk way back in 2008 it has come a long way and raised an incredible amount of money for the Hospice.

The idea of the Midnight Walk was brought to life by current Head of Fundraising Faye Henderson, who has watched as the event has grown and more and more walkers have turned out in all weathers to support Overgate.

Faye said: “In our first year we had 220 walkers turn out to take on the challenge. We had so much fun we were visited by the police who thought we were holding a party that had gotten a little out of control!

“To see the event now celebrating its tenth anniversary is testament to our incredible supporters who join us year on year and raise a phenomenal amount of money for the Hospice – we can’t do it without you!”

To celebrate this huge landmark for the Hospice’s star event, Overgate would like to make 2017’s event the best yet.

Along with the new look branding the fundraising team are working hard on lots of exciting additions to this year’s walk.

Along with new routes for the walkers to take on, the shorter walk has gained an extra mile in celebration of this great milestone!

Both routes will pass the Hospice building where the Day Hospice team will be on hand to provide well-deserved refreshments and remind the amazing walkers why each mile makes a

huge difference to the lives of others.
