Patient Lorraine Butterworth has repaid staff who helped her through her cancer treatment by raising £1,000.

Lorraine, 49, from Ainley Top, has roped in friends and family to help boost her total.

She organised a charity evening at Bailiff Bridge Community Centre with a band and auction, along with friend Deborah Ifould.

Youngsters from St Andrew’s Infants School, Brighouse, where Lorraine is a teaching assistant, also played their part.

They held an Easter egg sale and donated the profits.

Lorraine said: “After being cared for at the centre here I really wanted to give something back. Everyone, all the staff and the volunteers are really nice and supportive.”

Matron Louise Taylor, said: “We are very grateful. It is always lovely for us to meet up with our patients.”
