Halifax Art Society president Paul Talbot-Greaves stood kindly in for R.Donald to create a stunning watercolour of a building in Hardcastle Craggs in a demonstration to the group.
He had already prepared a pencil drawing from one of his photographs, taken recently in the snow for strong contrast of light and shade. The road in the foreground draws the eye in to a dark shed in the centre, then focussing on a stone touched by light.
It was the 91st birthday of one of the society’s oldest members Kathleen Read.
The society meets each Thursday at Oddfellows Hall, Coleridge Street, Halifax from 7.30 to 9.30 pm. On the 3rd March Geoff Wood will give a demonstration of caricatures and silhouettes.
