Police are appealing for information following an assault in Shipley.

At about 3.30pm on Friday, 3 October, a 57-year-old man was driving his black estate car along Westgate, when a white Mercedes van approached in the opposite direction - driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

As the two vehicles pulled alongside each other, the driver of the van is alleged to have made threats to the 57-year-old man and his passenger, before driving away.

The 16-year-old victim then got out of the black car outside the Connection restaurant and was involved in an altercation, allegedly with another male from the van.

Members of the public came to the victim’s aid and the alleged attacker ran off to the van, which drove off towards Foxes Corner.

The victim suffered a cut to his head which needed medical attention, and bruising to his upper body.

Following enquiries, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of assault and later released on bail.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward and help with their investigation.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Lyons, of Bradford District CID, said: “We believe that there were a lot of people in Westgate at the time of this incident, so we would appeal to anyone who witnessed this attack to come forward and tell us what they know.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 5901 Cheshire at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
