Police have released CCTV images of two men who they would like to speak to in connection with an investigation in to the theft and use of a pensioner’s bank card in Halifax town centre.

The 79-year-old female victim was using a cash machine in the Lloyds TSB Bank in Commercial Street shortly before midday on Tuesday, October 13, when a man approached and started talking to her. Another was standing nearby.

A short time later she realised that her bank card was missing and informed bank staff. The bank card had been used in the meantime to withdraw money from a cash machine nearby.

PC Lisa McDonald, of Calderdale Neighbourhood Investigation Unit, said: “This was a despicable crime against an elderly woman. Those involved have played on the victim’s vulnerabilities and stolen her money.

“As part of our ongoing enquiries we are keen to identify and speak to the two men pictured in these CCTV images. Anyone who recognises these men, or indeed the men themselves, are asked to call the Calderdale Neighbourhood Investigation Unit via 101.”
