Police are advising residents not to take medicine which has not been prescribed for them following the theft of Morphine tablets in a burglary.

Officers were called to a house on Kingsway, Ossett at about 3.30am on Friday to a report of a burglary in which medication was taken.

Stolen goods included 40 100mg Morphine Zormoph tablets which had been legally prescribed.

Enquiries are now ongoing into the burglary and to recover the tablets which are half white in colour.

Insp Jo Mercer of the Wakefield North West NPT advised anyone who came across the tablets to give them to the authorities.

She said: “Clearly it can be a risk to anyone’s health to take medicine not prescribed for them and Morphine can have some unpleasant side affects.

“I would ask anyone who comes across these tablets to contact the North West NPT team on 101 or CrimeStoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
