A cricket club has applied to move its home to Woodhouse and create a brand new pitch on current grazing land.

Members of Augustinians Cricket Club have applied to move the club to land at Woodhouse Fields, Rastrick, from its current home at Huddersfield YMCA, Laund Hill.

The cricket field would be on the eastern side of the land with a track built leading to a 24-space car park according to the planning application to Calderdale Council.

Situated just off Woodhouse Gardens, the club aims to take out a 30-year lease and develop the site, eventually building a clubhouse and pavilion. Plans indicated the new Halifax Cricket League club would be called Augustinians/Woodhouse Cricket Club.

The club have applied for portable units to be used until a clubhouse with changing facilities and scorebox can be built.

The council’s planning department is aiming for a decision by November 26.
