Local boxer Christopher Godridge, 17, is hanging up his boxing gloves for a life in the Royal Marines.

Christopher’s mother Sheridan Godridge, of Ovenden, Halifax, believes that the discipline taught at the Police Boxing Club gave her teenage son focus in his studies as well as his future. “Boxing has kept him off the streets, helped with his school studies, and taught him discipline and respect. I would recommend physical training as beneficial to a child’s life.”

Christopher will fulfill his childhood dream at a younger age than most as he joins the marines on a 32-week training programme.
