Revealed: Where and when new Calderdale parking charges will come into force

Notices are going up this week, to inform road users of changes to parking charges on street and in car parks across Calderdale.

From Monday March 27, tariff amendments will be introduced in existing pay and display areas across the borough.

In some areas, like Halifax town centre, this will mean an increase, while in others, like Elland, a reduced rate has been introduced to help increase footfall.

Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Cllr Barry Collins, said: “Parking charges in Calderdale are low when compared to other nearby towns and cities.

“We’ve looked carefully at tariffs right across Calderdale and are working on a programme to ensure that they now reflect the individual requirements of each town, with charges reducing in some areas and increasing in others.”

Notices with details of the changes will be on site in the affected streets/car parks.

Here are the new charges:

Shibden Park - Mereside Car Park, Grass Overflow Car Parks and the Upper Car Park: 50p up to one hour, £1 up to two hours and £1.50 over two hours

Pay and display bays in Commercial Street, Union Street, Alexandra Street, Northgate, Old Market and Princess Street; Max one hour stay, No return within 1 hour, Monday – Saturday 8am to 6pm, 70p for 30 minutes, £1.40 for one hour.

In relation to the pay and display bays in Ward’s End, Horton Street, Town Hall Street East, Crossley Street, Rawson Street, Powell Street, Waterhouse Street, Crown Street, Central Street, Silver Street, George Street and Cross Street: Max two hour stay, No return within one hour, Monday – Saturday 8am to 6pm: 70p for 30 minutes, £1.40 for one hour, £2.10 for one hour 30 minutes, £2.80 for two hours

Hebden Bridge on street

Pay and display bays in Old Gate/The Buttress, Holme Street, Hangingroyd Lane, Valley Road & Regent Street: Monday – Sunday 8am to 6pm - 60p per hour

Halifax car parks

Union Street Car Park, Prescott Street Car Park, King Street Car Park, North Bridge Car Park and Hanover Street Car Park in Halifax: Monday to Saturday 50p per hour or part thereof, with a maximum charge of £3.50.

Victoria Street Car Park, Cross Hills Car Park, Cow Green Car Park, Mulcture Hall Road Car Park & High Street Car Park in Halifax: Monday to Friday 50p per hour or part thereof, with a maximum charge of £3.50; Saturday £1 all day

Bull Green Car Park in Halifax: Monday – Saturday (maximum two hour stay) £1 per hour.

Akroyd Place Car Park and St John’s Lane Car Park in Halifax: Monday – Saturday (maximum four hour stay), £1 per hour

Northgate House Car Park in Halifax: Saturday only (maximum four hour stay) £1 per hour

Car Parks in Elland, Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden

Brook Street Car Park, Northgate Car Park, Southgate Car Park & Timber Street Car Park in Elland, and Stanley Street Car Park, Tuel Lane Car Park & West Street Car Park in Sowerby Bridge: 40p per hour or part thereof, with a maximum charge of £2.40.

Boxhall Road Car Park & Coronation Street Car Park in Elland: 50p per hour
