Popular Sowerby Bridge pub The Works suddenly closes

It’s thought The Works, Hollins Mill Lane, shut its doors yesterday after 11 years of trading in the town.

A statement on its Facebook page said: “Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances we will be closing for the foreseeable future.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hopefully see you all soon.”

It’s thought the matter has been passed over to Cleckheaton-based insolvency firm O’Hara’s.

The Courier tried to contact the firm, but no-one was available for comment.

Up until its closure, the venue had been taking bookings for Christmas dinners.

The Calderdale Comedy Club had also been due to host comedian Zoe Lyons there this Friday. This will now be held at the Imperial Crown Hotel, Halifax.
