Halifax is preparing for its annual Armed Forces Day parade today.

The parade, led by the West Yorkshire Police Band, is due to set off from Halifax Town Hall at 12.15pm before a procession through Halifax, passing through Princess Street, Southgate, Ward’s End and Horton Street into the Piece Hall, where the mayor will address veterans, serving servicemen and cadets taking part.

A concert band will play soon after, followed by a pipe band in celebration of the day, while the procession will set off to Halifax Minster down Horton Street, Square Road, Alfred Street East and Church Street ahead of an Armed Forces Day service that begins at 1pm.

Armed Forces Day will remember the fallen soldiers of the 3rd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment (Dukes of Wellington’s).
