The widow of former Halifax Rugby Union Club fixtures secretary David Pickles says he will be deeply missed.
Mr Pickles died last month after a three-and-a-half year battle with prostate cancer.
His widow Jill said: “David was a people person, always wanting to engage with everyone he met.
“He was funny, kind, generous and never happier than when he was with a group of friends laughing and drinking.
“He was also a loving husband and a proud father and he will be deeply missed by all who hold him dear.”
Mr Pickles was born in Bolton in 1950 and moved to Brighouse when he was 12, taking up a range of sports including cricket, basketball and rugby.
After marrying Jill, the couple moved to Luddenden before the birth of their daughter Anna in 1979.
Then in 2003, Mr Pickles left his job in insurance to work in his other field of interest, caravanning, before becoming fixtures secretary for Halifax RUFC. where he helped coach the women’s team, which included his daughter Anna.
