A pub has applied to Calderdale Council’s licensing sub-committee to have its opening hours extended at weekends until 1.30am, not 3am as previously reported.
Due to a misprint in several council documents, last week the Courier reported that the Saville Arms in Southgate, Elland, wanted to extend its opening hours until 3am on Friday and Saturday night.
The documents also stated that the pub was currently open from 8am and stayed open until 1am, Sunday to Thursday.
However, the landlady at the Saville Arms, Tracey Broadley, said the information was incorrect.
She said the pub is currently open from 11am until 11.30pm between Sunday and Thursday.
On Friday and Saturday it is open from 11am until 12.30am.
The application from the Saville Arms will be heard tomorrow.
However, nearby residents have objected to the application, saying their lives have been hell since the reopening of the pub in October last year.
One family said their children had to sleep with their windows closed at weekends because of foul language, while another resident said the behaviour of customers was “affecting our quality of life in our own home.”
