Raise your glasses and toast your local for the Halifax Courier Pub of the Year competition 2013.

The search is on again to find Halifax’s best boozer, with nominations now open for pubs in each of the six postcode areas.

The winners from each section will then go through to the Grand Final, where this year’s favourite will be crowned.

Last year’s prize went to the Murgatroyd Arms in Skircoat Green.

Thousands of people voted for their favourite local but “The Murg” was victorious after several rounds of voting.

The couple both worked for the Lloyds Banking Group in Halifax and took redundancy to seek out a new career.

Julie told the Courier after winning the prize last year: “We are thrilled to win and have had great support from our regular customers. They have been very supportive.”

Pubs nominated in each of the six heats will be featured in the Courier, when readers will be asked to vote for their favourite using vounchers provided.
