A wagon caught fire on the M62 as it developed a puncture.

The driver had pulled over onto the hard shoulder in between junction 24 and junction 23 westbound and noticed smoke coming from one of the wheels.

Elland crews attended at at around 10pm yesterday (Friday) as one lane of the motorway was closed.

Damage was only caused to the tyre and the fire is believed to have started due to friction building up and generating heat.

The vehicle was later recovered and the lane reopend shortly afterwards.
