PUPILS have put their dancing shoes on to take a trip around the world.

Whitehill Academy in Illingworth, Halifax, hosted the Junior Jam dance group for a week.

All the pupils from Reception to Year 6 took part in differently themed world dance classes.

Each class had a one-hour session looking at a different country from around the world.

Pupils learnt African drumming, Brazilian capoeira, Indian Bollywood and taekwondo.

Healthy Schools and PE Co-rdinator Catherine Oade said: “The staff and kids have been fantastic and amazed by it. It’s been really great and has not only taught them dancing but the counting helped with maths skills and they learnt the background to the dances.”
