Young swimmers battled it out in the water at Halifax Pool in an inter-schools competition.

The swimming gala involved five catholic primary schools in Calderdale and was the first chance for the pupils to compete in the pool.
Mark Brennan, headteacher of St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Halifax organised the event - which was won overall by St Joseph’s School in Brighouse. Mr Brennan said: “We realised, unlike football or netball, there wasn’t a way for our best swimmers to compete. We hope to organise it again next year, possible involving more schools, not just catholic.”
