Queen’s Diamond Jubilee closes with fireworks display on Beacon Hill

Fireworks will be set off from Beacon Hill on Sunday to mark the closure of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Prior to that a service takes place at Halifax Minster at 4 pm to which the public are invited.

That will be conducted by the Rev Canon Hilary Barber with music led by the Halifax Choral Society, the West Yorkshire Police Band and the Minster Choir.

There will also be performances from Sikh drummers, Diamond Gymnastics and Ryburn High School Dance Academy.

Barrie Rutter, of Northern Broadsides Theatre Company will give a reading by Shakespeare and the Bishop of Pontefract, The Right Rev Tony Robinson, and the Lord-Lieutenant for West Yorkshire Dr Ingrid Roscoe will also attend.

Halifax Minster held a service for the West Yorkshire region last February which set off a year of celebration to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

Sunday’s event has been organised by Halifax Minster, Calderdale Council and the Community Foundation for Calderdale.
