Staff at Tescos in Queensbury were full of beans - after store managers were covered in beans to raise money for charity.

Workers and customers at the village supermarket raised over £500 for their Charity of the Year, Diabetes UK, by nominating some of their bosses to sit in a paddling pool and get “gunked” in cold baked beans.

“Several of the managers were`volunteered’ to help raise such a sum and they all did remarkably well,” said store community champion David Lightfoot.

One notable absentee was store manager Steve Dawson who is, at present, undergoing his own ordeal on his cycle replicating the three steepest climbs on the route of the Tour de France in the French Alps once again in aid of Diabetes UK.
