THIEVES burst into a house and demanded keys to a jewellery store before raiding the shop.

Detectives were at Fahad Jewellers on Walsh Street, off Queens Road in Halifax, yesterday investigating the theft of a haul of stock.

The culprits had taken the keys to the shop after forcing their way into a home on Sandbeds Road in Halifax at around 5am yesterday.

There were four people inside the house at the time - two adults and two children.

The thieves then went to the jewellers, let themselves in, and escaped with jewellery.

Officers said last night they were investigating whether jewellery boxes later found in Queensbury could be connected to the raid,

They are urging anyone with information about the theft, anyone who has been offered jewellery for sale or who saw anyone or any vehicles acting suspiciously in the areas before the house break-in or the shop raid to contact them as soon as possible.

Anyone who can help with the police’s investigation should call Calderdale CID on 01422 337085 or via 101.

Information can also be given to officers by calling crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers, where information can be passed on anonymously, on 0800 555111.
